Allentown CROP Hunger Walk Sunday, October 13

Walk.   Give.   Change the world.

Walkers have reported $11,002.86 in online and offline gifts!
Find more details here.

1) Walkers who raise $150 or more earn a free CROP Hunger Walk T-shirt.

2) Participants may choose to walk either the “Golden Mile” (yellow table) route or the “5-Mile Allentown City Loop” (red table) route and must sign in and sign out at the registration table corresponding to the route they choose.

3) Congregation/organization groups and individuals are encouraged to make and carry signs and posters (e.g., “[Your congregation/organization] supports the CROP Hunger Walk,” or “CROP Hunger Walk: Ending Hunger One Step at a Time”). Photographers, TV cameras, and spectators will want to know who we are and why we are walking!

4) Walkers are asked to bring non-perishable food to the CROP Hunger Walk for the Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank.

2) The “Allentown City Loop” walkers will register, kick-off, and end as usual at St. Timothy Lutheran Church. Since the Allentown Halloween Parade is the same afternoon as the Allentown CROP Hunger Walk, the “ALLENTOWN CITY LOOP” WALKERS WILL JOIN WITH THE HALLOWEEN PARADE at the Allentown Fairgrounds (after leaving St. Timothy Lutheran, going north up the Ott Street hill, and going right/east on Chew Street), where CROP refreshments will be available. Rest rooms are also available behind the Ritz.

3) It is ESSENTIAL that our “ALLENTOWN CITY LOOP” WALKERS STAY TOGETHER as a whole group FOR THE FULL HALLOWEEN PARADE ROUTE (south on 17th Street from 17th & Chew, left on Hamilton St. to 9th St.) and, if possible, CARRY CROP WALK SIGNS.

4) AFTER LEAVING THE HALLOWEEN PARADE at 9th and Hamilton, “Allentown City Loop” walkers need to FOLLOW THE CROP HUNGER WALK ROUTE SIGNS that will direct them to turn right (south) on 9th Street and right again (west) on Walnut Street, left (south) on 17th Street, and right (west) on Union Street TO RETURN TO ST. TIMOTHY LUTHERAN.

5) AFTER LEAVING THE HALLOWEEN PARADE, walkers need not stay together as a whole group. However, they MAY NOT WALK ALONE. Restrooms and refreshments are available at St. James UCC (15th & Walnut Streets) and back at St. Timothy Lutheran.

Together, we can help end hunger in our community and around the world!
