Arlington CROP Hunger Walk Saturday, October 13

We're fighting hunger together!

Arlington Church Of The Brethren

Our team is helping to end hunger one step at a time by participating in this year's CROP Hunger Walk on October 13. The 5K/10K Walk is part of a network of approximately 2000 local walks sponsored by the Church World Service (CWS). The Hunger Walks help to support hunger fighting, grass-roots programs both here and abroad. Seventy-five percent of the funds raised will support CWS’s efforts to support hunger programs around the world. These programs provide food and water as well as resources to empower people to meet their own needs. The remaining twenty-five percent of the funds support local efforts to combat hunger. Our local share will support AFAC which distributes food to families in Arlington County.

The Church of the Brethren was one of the denominations that joined together to establish CROP in 1947 to help bring Midwest wheat to areas devastated by WWII. CROP stood for Christian Rural Overseas Program. CROP’s first Director was John Metzler, a member of the Church of the Brethren from Indiana and a graduate of Manchester College, one of the six COB’s colleges. The headquarters were housed at Bethany, the COB seminary, before the headquarters moved to Elkhart, Indiana.

Please support us continue the important work of fighting hunger by making a donation ... and join us on the Walk!
