In light of the recommendations from local and state public health officials for reducing the spread of the Covid-19 (Corona) virus, the Berkeley CROP Hunger walk has been modified and we will not gather on March 29th. This year, instead of gathering we will have a “virtual walk”.
The CROP Hunger walk is an important opportunity to support agencies that fight poverty and provide essential hunger and disaster relief. It is apparent that the important work that this walk supports will be needed this year more than ever. Church World Service, Berkeley Food Pantry, Dorothy Day House, and Youth Spirit Artworks will all see increased demand for their services due to the economic and health impacts of the corona virus.
This year, the Berkeley CROP Hunger Walk Committee is asking all supporters to participate in a “virtual walk” by do the following:
• On March 29th, walk where you like and post pictures or messages of why you support the Berkeley CROP Hunger Walk on the Facebook page for the walk: https://www.facebook.com/CROP-Hunger-Walk-Berkeley-California-724937120919942/
• Wear a CROP Hunger walk T-Shirt if you have one from past walks
• Include a CROP Hunger walk sign or poster in your picture.
• Continue to raise funds, especially by directing people to donate online: https://www.crophungerwalk.org/berkeleyca/
Please mail any checks that have been collected to our Treasurer at:
First Congregational Church
Attn: Tom Yamaguchi, CROP Walk Treasurer
2345 Channing Way
Berkeley, CA 94704
Also, please notify anyone that you have contacted about the walk about this change to a "virtual walk". We will be updating the website early next week.
Thank you very much for your support of the Berkeley CROP Hunger walk this year and in years past. Together we make a meaningful impact both in Berkeley and around the world.
