Burlington-Hampshire CROP Hunger Walk Saturday, September 28

Friends of Burlington-Hampshire - Let's stomp out hunger together!

2019 marks the 50th Anniversary of communities coming together for CROP Hunger Walks! The Burlington-Hampshire CROP Hunger Walk is in its 12th year and we're working hard to make this our best year ever. Our 2019 goal is $12,000 in individual and business donations and 60 walkers on Walk Day. We can do it! Register by Sept 12 to receive a walk day t-shirt (sizes Child S - Adult 2XL).

Hunger is one of the greatest injustices facing our world, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Ending hunger is possible, and it is possible in our lifetime.

What is CROP?

CROP was an acronym for the Christian Rural Overseas Program started in 1947 by Church World Service. It organized Midwest farm families to share their grain with hungry neighbors in post-World War II Europe and Asia. Today CROP supports everything from combating droughts to providing agricultural training to stocking shelves in hundreds of food pantries - in the US and beyond. Currently, over 1,600 communities across the U.S. join in more than 800 CROP Hunger Walks every year.

What is the Burlington-Hampshire CROP Hunger Walk?

Our walk is organized by local church volunteers from First United Methodist Hampshire, St. Paul's United Church of Christ Elgin, and St. John United Church of Christ Harmony.

The Burlington-Hampshire CROP Hunger Walk is named after the local organization it supports - the Burlington-Hampshire Food Pantry in downtown Hampshire. 25% of our proceeds go directly to the pantry! The walk begins and ends at First United Methodist Church of Hampshire and swings right past the food pantry. burlingtonhampshireareafoodpantry.org

Register by Sept 12 to receive a walk day t-shirt. There are three ways to register:
1. Online by joining our team.
2. Creating your own online team.
3. Contacting Barb Kamp at barb.kamp@yahoo.com with your name and t-shirt size and collect money and checks the old fashioned way.

This year, we're excited to walk alongside the St. Vincent de Paul "Friends of the Poor" Walk sponsored by our Hampshire friends from St. Charles Borromeo. A $10 Walk Day suggested donation goes directly to the CROP Hunger Walk - $20 for families with two adults plus one or more children under 12.
