The CROP Hunger Walk is a cause that is very important to me. I am walking and raising funds because I believe we should feed hungry people here at home and around the world.
Because we are all under a Stay Home, Stay Safe order to mitigate spread of the Coronovirus, this year we are holding a VIRTUAL CROP WALK.
While we won't gather for a big Walk Day Walk on May 3, I, along with our other teams and walkers, will gather pledges and walk in a (socially distanced) personal walk. ALL DONATIONS WILL BE MADE ONLINE, through the crophungerwalk.org/farmingtonmi site, to the North Church team or to my own fundraising.
CROP Hunger Walks are community-wide events that bring people together in this common mission to raise funds to provide permanent solutions to hunger. This year, with restrictions on grocery shopping and shortages, we are all much more aware if how food insecurity and outright hunger can develop. I know that together, through funds raised at our Walk, we will do amazing things like establish community gardens, fund small business loans, provide livestock to struggling farmers and much more! Local partners, which divide 25% of the total funds raised, are CARES of Farmington Hills, Neighborhood House, the Salvation Army Farmington Hills, Zaman International and Yad Ezra. Each is working to provide food aid to specific populations in our community; every little bit we get to them can help!
I'm excited to be part of this and would love to have you join me on this journey. The steps we take - and the funds we raise - will make a real impact!
