Walk.   Give.   Change the world.

Our community believes in ending hunger. And, in 2020, we will continue to fight against the new challenges of disease and disaster that leave people hungry. Join with us in raising funds to help neighbors near and far get the meals they need this year.

Skagit CROP Hunger Walk Goes Virtual in 2020!

The need is bigger than ever!  Even though we will not be gathering to walk as a group this year, we will still be raising the money and walking our own 3.4 mile routes towards ending hunger locally and globally. 100% of the money raised goes to alleviate hunger and fight poverty -- 75% fights hunger globally and 25% is given to support local food banks and meal programs such as Friendship House and others as distributed by the Skagit Food Distribution Center. A list of benefiting agencies is provided below.

The virtual walk date is Sunday, Sept. 20.  We invite all walkers to walk the 3.4 miles (or mileage of their choice) before or on Sunday Sept 20 and post a picture of their walk on the Skagit CROP Hunger Walk Facebook page.  Walkers can walk in their own neighborhood, favorite trail, or anywhere else they choose.  We ask walkers to please comply with health dept mandates to maintain 6 feet of social distance from other walkers, and to wear mask if walking in areas where others are present.   All walkers who post pictures of their CROP Walk on the Skagit CROP Walk Facebook page will be entered in a drawing to win a pound of coffee by the Friendship House.

New this year: A Canned Food Drive.  Please feel free to drop off canned food at First CRC Church at 701 W. Blackburn St., across the street from where the walk would have started at Mt. Vernon Christian School.  Canned Food Donations will be accepted at First CRC on Fri. Sept 18 – Sun Sept. 20.  Look for the drop off box by the side door.

We are proud to announce some brand new fun and motivating competitions this year to encourage more participation:

The Biggest Team Award.  The team with the most number of people will win a golden shoe award to display for the year.  Their team name will be inscribed on the travelling trophy.

Top Fundraising Team Award. The team who raises the most money will win a Framed CROP HUNGER theme picture with an inscribed frame. This will be a travelling trophy.

The Group Project.    We are asking someone from each team to walk a route in the shape of a letter when recorded on a tracking app.    We want to spell out “Let’s End Hunger!” when we combine all the letters.    Take a picture of your app/map and post it to the Face Book Page.  No Award for this one, just the fun of doing a project together.   Go to Facebook and post on the Skagit Crop Hunger Walk page.  At the end we will edit the pictures together.  We can coordinate who is taking care of what letter on the Facebook page.
