Help Fight Hunger at Home and Abroad!

Brenda Wheelock

Dear Friends:

On Oct. 21, hundreds of people in our community will gather to fight hunger and poverty through the Cleveland County CROP Walk. As a longtime CROP Walk organizer, this event is near and dear to my heart. It brings together people of many faiths - all for the common cause of helping those in need in our community and around the world. And it’s lots of fun!

CROP Hunger Walks help to provide food and water, as well as resources that empower people to meet their own needs. From seeds and tools to wells and water systems, the key is people working together to identify their own development priorities, their strengths and their needs - something Church World Service has learned through 70 years of working in partnership around the world.

I especially appreciate that 25 percent of our CROP dollars stay in Cleveland County to support the work of Food and Shelter Inc., which provides free meals and housing for families in need.

Our local walk goal is to raise at least $20,000. My personal goal is to raise $500. Please help make a difference by supporting the CROP Walk. You can make a secure online credit card donation on this page or you can mail your contribution, payable to CWS/CROP, to me at 2501 Butler Drive, Norman, OK 73069.

Better yet, walk with us at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at Andrews Park, 201 W. Daws in Norman. There will great musical entertainment and a free cookout at the end of the 3-mile route.

With love and gratitude!
Brenda
