Dear Fellow Euclid Avenue UMC Members,
I hope you are all are safe and well in these interesting yet very trying times. I am writing to you as Team Captain for the 2020 Crop Walk. Crop Walk will still be taking place this year on Sunday, May 3, but given this year’s circumstances it will be held as a VIRTUAL WALK.
Although in the current climate I am sure many of us are anxious and concerned with personal considerations, I want to urge you to support this year’s walk. The need has never been greater. Twenty-five percent of the funds raised support local organizations including the First Baptist Food Pantry and Proviso Food pantry in Melrose Park; Beyond Hunger in Oak Park; Pine Avenue Food Pantry and St. Martin De Porres Food Pantry in Chicago; Forest Park Food Pantry; the Quinn Center of St. Eulalia Hunger Ministries,: Vision of Restoration Food Pantry and Housing Forward in Maywood; and the Cluster Tutoring Program in Austin. The remaining funds are dedicated to the acclaimed international relief and development programs sponsored by the Church World Service (CWS).
Last year we at Euclid Avenue UMC raised $3,265.00. This was the fifth largest amount among all “Hunger Walkathon West” teams. We should be quite proud of that, but I know we can do better. This year I am setting a goal for our church of $5,000. Please join me in reaching it.
Participation is quite simple and can be done in several ways. The preferred way is that you register as a participant and join our Euclid Ave. UMC team. To do so you must first register at www.crophungerwalk.org/oakparkil/. As part of that process it will ask if you would like to join a team. Once that is done you are all set, and you can reach out to everyone you know to ask for their support. Should you decide not to choose this option, you can still donate to a Euclid Ave. UMC. team member.
If you are unable to raise money online, you can still reach out and collect donations. Any checks should be made out to CWS/CROP.
Should you need assistance I am attaching the revised participant instructions. I am available to answer any questions and can be reached by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 570-905-5293.
Thank you for your consideration and support. Despite these difficult circumstances I am confident that we at Euclid Ave. UMC will rise to the occasion, as we always do, and support this invaluable endeavor.
