September is coming and we are excited! The 41 annual Wake Forest CROP Hunger Walk will be here soon, giving us a welcome opportunity to re-engage with each other and our community. Each year, 25 percent of ALL CROP fundraising remains local, benefiting Tri -Area Ministry (TAM) and Hope House, Inc., both key sponsors of the Summer Nutrition Program and other community services.
2020's CROP Walk may be billed as a virtual walk, but that doesn't mean it is limited to a computer screen. Although Sunday, Sept. 27, is the "official" date, we're building in flexibility along with creativity for even more participation. St. John's staff and its CROP team captains have come up with three ways that interested walkers and donors can fight hunger at home and abroad:
1. Walk individually or with your family whenever you like that weekend; text photos to Joy Shillingsburg to post live on Facebook and our website.
2. Register on the Sign-Up Genius for a gathering at St. John's on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 4 p.m. (20 registrants maximum) and walk along a short but special "trail" in the upper parking lot and front entrance. Staff members will be on hand to help and take photographs. Here's that link:
3. Meet with your ministry or others at Joyner Park, off 701 Harris Rd, Wake Forest, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26. and walk whatever distance your small group decides upon, taking photos to post on our website and Facebook page. Here's that sign up link: signupgenius.com/go/10C0844AAA6292-stjohns1
Until then, please register as a walker and/or make a donation on our team homepage! Prefer checks instead? Simply make yours out to CWS/CROP Walk and mail to Barbara Kwaitec, c/o St. John's, 834 Durham Rd., Wake Forest, NC.
Thank you for supporting Wake Forest's CROP Hunger Walk!
